The SineWave CYN-DRIVE

Same CYN-1 cleans, this time with a supreme drive channel

Controls and Specs

The CYN-DRIVE came from a desire to create a balanced overdrive section within the core circuit of the CYN-1.  The goal was to keep the fundamental aspect of the clean and reverb circuits untouched. While allowing the overdrive circuit to offer the ability to go from a transparent clean boost or into varying levels of Blues/Rock gain. The Front end offers the same unmatched ability to switch between cool or hot pickups with the Signal Strength switch.  This amp was designed to showcase the most important aspects of the electric guitar. This being the fret-board to pick-up interaction and the dynamics as that signal is amplified.  The CYN-DRIVE has the ability to span very familiar vintage feels and sounds, but also be able to react and feel like a more refined modern amp.  The CYN-DRIVE is a great clean platform that will handle a wide variety of pedals and setups.

    REVERB

The tube driven reverb is a versatile circuit that will allow a subtle reverb or a lush, washed out reverb. It was designed to mix with the dry signal in a very non-obtrusive way.

    PRESENCE

The Presence control is a very familiar circuit that will boost the higher frequency ranges of the output section. Very helpful for quick adjustments on the stage, a mix control for very dark guitars or pickups.

    POWER

The Power section will be designed around the needs and desires of the player. The core amp was originally built around 6L6 or comparable tube types. However the amp can be adjusted to fit any production tube type.

    EFFECTS LOOP

The passive loop offers a basic interface for time based effects, post preamp. The Master Volume acts as a send to loop and requires a balanced, buffered setup with level control as it integrates back in to the amp.

SIGNAL STRENGTH

  • The Signal Strength circuit was created to optimize the front end of the amp and how it integrates into the back end of the preamp.  This circuit offers two options:

  • The high is more akin to an old vintage blackface in the way the bass and gain overpower the rest of the amp. This will instantly feel a bit more “old school” and will also offer more gain and volume. Overall headroom on the preamp side will be lower in this mode.

  • The Low is more modern and will decrease the amount of “harsh” or harmonic distortion that most vintage amps have. It will also help smooth out the signal if overdriven from pedals. There will be more note separation in this mode and the lower amount of gain will allow for more preamp headroom.

EQ

The front end EQ section is extremely balanced and will allow the player to achieve the correct levels in the bedroom, studio, or the stage while adding more options for any guitar/pickup arrangement, rooms, or just wanting to play at lower levels. There are 2 switchable EQ settings:

  • EQ1 is a low gain option that changes the roll off zones of the tone controls and how they feed signal to the gain stage. This is a very useful setting for low level playing, arch tops (reduces ambient feedback), or very high gain aggressive pickups.

  • EQ2 is the normal gain range. With this setting the tone section will roll less signal off as it goes through to the gain stage.

REVERB EQ

The Reverb EQ is a three way switch that changes the frequency range of the mixed reverb signal.

  • 0 – This is the normal mode and is considered neutral in both voicing and feel.

  • 1 – This setting will increase all the highs in the wet signal. Making the mix splashier.

  • 2 – This setting will decrease all the highs and mellow out the reverb signal.
